Most people seem to have cured it by replacing the ECU, after chasing the fault like me. Whatever occurs, occurs within the system at 2500 rpm and above. It idles perfectly even with fault present. No air leaks, cant be crank sensor as car runs. Injectors taken from a known working engine, same as the coil pack and throttle housing. So unless theres a wiring fault, the problem must lay with the ECU by my reckoning.Īs there is no Idle control that I can access, I understand its controlled by the ECU, plus the IAC adaption slope is as far as I can tell a computer program on the ECU. The problem seems to be that the ECU is reporting the Idle control voltage is too high. Plus I kept all the old ones and it really makes no difference if I swap them over or not. If I was getting different codes then I would tend to agree with your suspicions on the parts. I work with computers, and the likely hood of ALL those parts producing the exact same error as before I replaced them is too high to be realistic. But I want to be sure that there cant be anything else causing it before it do, I spent £250 already with no luck. I dont mind forking out to replace it from here. So it seems to me that the ECU is a gonner. However, when the fault occurs, both these values sit at 0 Before the error they sit at around 89. I suspect as others have said on here, it is the Simtec 70 ECU thats now at fault.Noticed that when I clear the code, and monitor the IAC integrator and IAC Adaption slope, they are both functioning. Once I rev it and hold the revs around 2500 or above the code kicks in and the car sound like a bag of spanners, revs are bouncing around despite holding the throttle steady. And it will stay clear whilst the car idles. Replaced Coil pack, throttle body, performed Field remedy 2033 (earthing one) Had new injectors (new manifold didnt appear to be heating up on Cylinder 4)Īnd still i have this damned P0505 error. Found cracks on the flexi pipe before the CAT.replaced. Started investigating, found a cracked exhaust manifold, replaced. Wouldnt idle, sounded extremely rough above 2500 rpm. My Vectra is doing my head in, been off the road since November.
